A Hero None the Less

Regarding fear, courage, and heroes…

   A Hero None the Less

And in our most hallowed halls is where he is found
Fighting with passion loving his land
Under loads that would strike many down
Always he’s given more than duty demands
At the powerful it’s fun he pokes
Including himself to our delight
Never far from a smile or a light hearted joke
Even when it’s for his death his enemies hoped

Images Came in a Torrent

Courage is not the absence of fear…

Excerpted from   –   Images Came in a Torrent

…But the falling felt like forever so much time packed
Into scant seconds but that’s what she recalls
Maybe time just stopped

Then started again as tragic images came in a torrent
People were yelling and screaming for help above the din her
Thoughts turned toward those people and caring for the injured
Doing what she could for the moment

Built This Thing

Of responsibility and nobility…

   Built This Thing

Sometimes people do the right thing
After thirty five years it has been getting to be time to go
But what it seemed like most would do would only throw
Out all those that had helped him bring

His business thru all the rough years
The sacrifice
Not just

His alone. Dreams would have been dust
Without their lives
And tears

So now he has decided that the very thing
To do is just what’s right though many would not know
How. But his company will continue to grow
Because he’s left it to those that have built this thing

Trample On Conscience

Contemplating nobility, or the lack thereof…

   Trample On Conscience

Once more just the same
Men who trample on conscience
Soon get over shame

Footsteps He Trod

Of holiness and nobility…

   Footsteps He Trod

The Christ Child is born
Whether of man or God
Not what really adorns
The merit or holiness of footsteps he trod

It is the message rings true
Not the details of his life that should matter
The love and tolerance that were his way have been lost

By so many that insist others should pay the cost
On and on they go with their endless patter
Speaking as if they still knew

The innocence of God’s
Way and were not shorn
Of compassion nor awed
By the creator’s benevolence. They’re forlorn

He Strides Yet

Noble spirits come in all shapes and sizes…

       He Strides Yet

He strides yet
In an ambling sort of way
Present in the footsteps of all those he’s shown the way
His calm let

Them see
The way back from being lost
His balance remains a beacon that will hold

Others on course long after his story has been told
His quiet leadership has become embossed
On the culture as his legacy

He strides yet
Across this country’s landscape remembered every day
An icon some would say
And beloved pet
