Time and Again

Regarding life, love, and commitment…

   Time and Again

Twenty one years together
She finds it impossible to imagine
A life without him
It should have been forever

Still she wouldn’t trade even one year
To not feel the pain
She’ll stay here

For now near
To this awful pain
Embracing every last tear

And then she’ll move on but missing their life together
And the not holding him
But he will always be there time and again

Each New Dawn

Of life, love, struggle, and friendship…

   Each New Dawn

One more great man falls
As do all

No longer famous
But was among the bravest

Knowing him we knew it to be so
And thru the years his valor would only grow

Those of us that walk around ready to fight
For loved ones, duty, and for what’s right

And those with families that knew him knew his commitment
To be the best he could for those he loved and to be decent

His world champion fame and glory days long since gone
Each new dawn

He greeted as a warrior
No matter the trial or travail he was a fighter to the core

To the end
Those that knew him proud to call him friend

A tribute to Savannah Svatma Russell (Known in his fighting days as SAVANNAH JACK)

This Road Is Not Abrupt

Celebrating life…

   This Road Is Not Abrupt

Young and sweet she reminds me
Of so many young people that I have seen

Full of life and verve
Not jaded by all that has not yet occurred

Full and ready but still somewhat dismayed by the pending decisions

Demanded by life
In this time that is so rife

With change
Of grand implications and extensive range

I can remember those times
Of high excitement and wondrous worry in attempting to define

What I’m to be now that I’m to be grown up
In the midst of sipping from life’s overflowing cup

The question sparkles within her eyes
And here spirit flies

Upon the winds of this quest
The adventure that’s borne me all these years now confessed

No, this road is not abrupt
What will I do when I’m finally all grown up?

They Have Wrung

Celebrating Life…

   They Have Wrung

Two warriors make a pair
And together will face the challenges to come
And oh there will be stories to be told before they are done
Of the great things they’ll dare

And now on this boldest
And most very important of all
Adventures they have readied themselves to embark

Thru the journey and years ahead they’ll encounter days so dark
They and others might be certain that they will fall
But I say that they’ll meet the test

How could they not? One so sturdy and one so fair
Two warriors and lovers both tested. From the fates they have wrung
Glories of battle and love’s tenderness have brung
Them to dare
