A Little Wild

Of redemption, then love and commitment…

   A Little Wild

She likes the bad boys
She likes the jazz and the thrill
Though that’s not worked out so well
But lecturing her to choose some nice guy is just noise

She’s been looking for a while
Though for what she’s not sure for she does need nice
But the thought of some nice boring gentleman is excruciating

Ever walking on the wild side his life has always been exciting
More than once in a while he’s been known to roll the dice
Yeah more than a little wild

And though women try reforming him he’ll not give up the wild ways or the toys
But incredibly loyal and he’s always treated his women well
She’s finally found what she’s needed you can tell
With this nicest of bad boys

It Would Be Done Today

In the fight…

   It Would Be Done Today

At the time public officials did all that they could
As they should

No arguing over turf
Putting the people’s needs first

All jurisdictions sent aid
While bosses prayed

And they sent
Help that went

Where it was needed
Despite the dangers heeded

By the rescuers on site
Though they might be filled with fright

And by the bosses busting budgets
To them it was more than just counting widgets

For they had people to save
And it would be done today

Green It Sheds

In contemplation…

Excerpted from   –   Green It Sheds

Why doesn’t grass change to orange or red?
When the fall colors turn
To brilliant hues that burn
Gorgeous trees.  What grass should do instead…

Yet There Was Still the Tug

Burning passion…

Excerpted from   –   Yet There Was Still the Tug

At thirty, Robert inherited vast estates
In England
And had Edward’s respect as a man
So there was much at English court to elate

This young gentleman of fine background
Honored and wealthy and holding high position
Yet, there was still the tug

Of burning Celtic blood
His mother’s lands and people still requisitioned
His heart.  The pulling profound…

The Illusion

In the fight…

   The Illusion

It seemed like an illusion
She was already halfway across the bridge when it began to fade
The cars ahead dropping out of sight one by one made
Her slip into confusion

Then a chunk of concrete hit her windshield and
She thought she would die right then
But her van tipped down

She prepared to pound
Into pavement and to be hammered again
But she hit water and didn’t slam into dry land

Floating she realized she suffered no bad contusions
But considering how to get out she prayed
Could not swim but would die if she stayed
So she rolled down the window and swam.   Was that the illusion?

From the Beginning

In the struggles of life…

Excerpted from   –   From the Beginning

…Sure we took her home to die
There were no doubts in our minds but neither could say, “No”
Not speaking our thoughts we didn’t know
Each one couldn’t say no, not bearing to see the other cry

Of course it grew worse
Once we were home and nurtured her for a while
And became so much more attached. We would love her so…
