Contemplating the joy of the fight…
Throw Back
He throws and I slip
I throw back and he lets loose
Who wins? Such a trip…

Of life, love, struggle, and friendship…
Each New Dawn
One more great man falls
As do all
No longer famous
But was among the bravest
Knowing him we knew it to be so
And thru the years his valor would only grow
Those of us that walk around ready to fight
For loved ones, duty, and for what’s right
And those with families that knew him knew his commitment
To be the best he could for those he loved and to be decent
His world champion fame and glory days long since gone
Each new dawn
He greeted as a warrior
No matter the trial or travail he was a fighter to the core
To the end
Those that knew him proud to call him friend

Two Choices
When the punches come
You’ve two choices to ponder
Fight or just be done

Holding Him
The fighter will bow
But he needs teammates’ support
Holding him up’s how

It Would Be Done Today
At the time public officials did all that they could
As they should
No arguing over turf
Putting the people’s needs first
All jurisdictions sent aid
While bosses prayed
And they sent
Help that went
Where it was needed
Despite the dangers heeded
By the rescuers on site
Though they might be filled with fright
And by the bosses busting budgets
To them it was more than just counting widgets
For they had people to save
And it would be done today

The Illusion
It seemed like an illusion
She was already halfway across the bridge when it began to fade
The cars ahead dropping out of sight one by one made
Her slip into confusion
Then a chunk of concrete hit her windshield and
She thought she would die right then
But her van tipped down
She prepared to pound
Into pavement and to be hammered again
But she hit water and didn’t slam into dry land
Floating she realized she suffered no bad contusions
But considering how to get out she prayed
Could not swim but would die if she stayed
So she rolled down the window and swam. Was that the illusion?

In the fight…
Twice Thought She’d Die
The seatbelt saved her and then almost killed her
She was about in the middle of the bridge that day
And twice thought she’d die. She landed safe then slid in the water
As water rushed in she had to find a way
Out
Struggling with her seatbelt she found enough play
To get out
With the water coming in over her head
She climbed out and started to swim. When she turned about
To look back she saw water instead
Of her car. It had vanished
Sunk like lead
Battered and broken she made it shore and found rest
Lying on shore she called the man she would wed
A young woman stayed by her side talking lest
She panic or coma overtake her, or just to comfort her where she lay

Of the fight…
Tons of Rocks
Ten times over the bridge that day
Signs banging then the road dropped likesome tons of rocks
Cars and trucks were tumbling and fell like they were blocks
Sliding backward time to pray
And jump
But the driver cracked
His spine when the landing jarred
His back hard
Then had to be strapped
To a stretcher and carried out in a painful lump
The passenger was able to stray
getting out and looking around he took stock
And found two trying to get out of a car that looked like a crushed box
Helping them out together they walked away

Air Nor Blood
Was a panic tap
Neither his air nor blood cut
Was his will got smashed
